FAQ

How do I know if I need orthodontic treatment?

Schedule a free consultation with our orthodontic team so we can assess your oral health and determine if any alignment, bite, growth, or airway concerns are present.

What age should my child first see an orthodontist?

Dr. Lauren and The American Association of Orthodontists recommend children be evaluated by an orthodontist at the first recognition of an orthodontic problem, but no later than age 7. The earlier we catch growth or development issues, the better the outcomes!

Are braces painful?

Discomfort after adjustments is normal, but braces are not typically painful. Soreness can be managed with over-the-counter pain medication.

How long does orthodontic treatment take?

Treatment duration varies depending on complexity and type, ranging from 6 months to 18 months on average.

What is Invisalign ®?

Invisalign is an orthodontic system that uses clear, removable aligners to straighten teeth discreetly. Tooth movement is planned virtually by Dr. Lauren to ensure optimal treatment outcomes. Invisalign can be used to treat children, teens, and adults.

How do I care for braces or Invisalign aligners?

It is generally easier to clean your teeth with Invisalign than braces. When you get started with treatment we will show you all the tips and tricks to maintain a bright smile and good oral hygiene!

Can I still play sports with braces?

Yes, but wearing a mouthguard to protect your teeth and braces from injury is recommended!

Will my teeth shift back after treatment?

Retainers worn at night time help maintain the new position of your teeth after treatment. Retainers also protect your teeth from grinding and wear. We have different retainer options available depending on your needs!

Does insurance cover orthodontic treatment?

It can! Coverage varies by plan, and we work with your provider to maximize benefits. We accept most insurance plans, offer flexible payment plans with no interest, and accept FSAs and HSAs.
